Voice Cloning: Clone a Voice from a Short Audio Sample
Voice cloning in VEME turns one clear recording into a voice you can reuse. Give the voice a name, upload or record a training sample, and press Clone Voice. The cloned voice then reads any new script you type, so you do not have to record every line again.

What a good voice cloning sample looks like
The sample is the only thing the model learns from, so its quality sets the ceiling for the result. VEME's upload panel asks for a clear audio sample of at least 10 seconds. VEME's own guide adds that about a minute of clear speech is enough to model a voice.
Do
- Use one speaker only, talking at a normal pace.
- Record in a quiet room with no music or TV behind you.
- Speak in the language you plan to use most. VEME says a cloned voice works best in the language of the original sample.
- Read in the mood you want back. A calm read clones as a calm voice.
Avoid
- Clips with two people talking over each other.
- Heavy echo, wind or street noise.
- Audio that has already been pitch-shifted or filtered.
- Any voice you do not have permission to clone.
Accepted file types and the maximum sample length are not stated on the page; check the upload dialog before you record.

A finished clone is not a one-off file. VEME saves it so you can pick it whenever you write a new script.

VEME's public model list shows the settings below for its voice clone model (Chatterbox TTS) as of October 2026. Which of them appear as controls in the app is not confirmed, so treat this as a guide to what the model supports.

Is voice cloning legal?
Clone only voices you may use
- VEME's own guidance is plain: you should only clone voices you have permission to use.
- Your own voice is fine. For anyone else, get their clear, written consent first.
- Do not clone a public figure, and do not use a cloned voice to mislead people about who is speaking.
Publishing and commercial use
- You can choose to publish a cloned voice to the VEME Voice Library. VEME reviews it before it is shown publicly.
- For ads and client work, check VEME's licensing terms for your plan. VEME's FAQ says voiceovers are typically available for commercial use.
- Laws on voice and likeness differ by country. When in doubt, ask a lawyer.
